The Football Temple is a Sacred Place in Milan—but not only for the matches.

The stadium is a temple of the sacrament: there is the game, with all its officiants and devotees, and God, always present, somewhere just out of sight.

From this perspective, San Siro is sacred to Milan in the most literal sense: since 1983, it has been the gathering place for Milanese confirmation candidates.

Huge groups of teenagers step onto the same grass as legends, while waves of parents in the stands chant to the sky like football fans.

And the Bishop, seated on his throne, ready to deliver the sacrament, proclaims: 'I say live—don’t just get by!'

Football rules, faith rules—life rules.
